History

From Classroom to Company

In 1990, after the fall of The Iron Curtain, Czechoslovakia opened to The West. English teachers Andrew Glueck, an American, and Jana Novakova, a Czech, developed a lesson plan about popcorn and Indians... not everyone knows that Natives of North and South America ate popcorn long before European settlers arrived to the new world.

The students were surprised to learn this and their eyes "popped" open when the two teachers made popcorn in class.

Hopi Popi was born

In 1992 Hopi Popi was born. The two teachers made a tipi and traveled the country to demonstrate how to make popcorn at home in a pot. Later there came microwave popcorn, and the rest is history.
